“City of Fae” has one of the most stunning book covers I have seen this year. Even if it doesn’t have the most creative plot, it is an engaging and gripping read that will leave fans of the urban fantasy genre satisfied.

Once I read the blurb of the novel, I could not get it out of my mind. Teleportation? Governmental secrets? Kick ass heroine? “The Vanishing Girl” has all of that.

The second installment of the Lumikki Andersson series is as interesting and entertaining as the first book. If “As Red As Blood” had you hooked, “As White As Snow” would not disappoint you as Lumikki’s adventures take her to one of the most atmospheric cities in the world, Prague.

I am big on fairy tale retellings and elements in YA and urban fantasy literature. But, as it turns out, this is not what “As Red As Blood” is about. This is not a supernatural story, yet it is still the story of a young girl named Snow White who gets involved in some very unusual events.

Red Rising Review

Title: Red Rising
Series: Red Rising Trilogy #1
Author: Pierce Brown
Year: 2014
Rating: 4.5/5

I could rave on about this book forever. Inspite of using a number of elements from famous sci-fi and dystopian series (and some of my favourite books!), it is one of the most thrilling and gripping novels I have read in recent memory. A truly entertaining adventure that makes up for its shortcomings.

See, Quentin has always been a character I have been able to relate to. In “The Magicians” – which I read when I was a teenage girl, straight after “Trainspotting” – he was as cynical and gloomy as I was; in “The Magician’s King” – which I read in my second year in university – he lived in a constant malcontent with his life just like did. So it is my greatest pleasure to find how his story ends in “The Magician’s Land” and once, again compare it to my own life.

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

For me, “The Infinite” is a pleasant surprise, especially after my dreadful experience with the first book of the series, “Gates of Thread and Stone”. With this wonderful sequel, Lori M. Lee proves that second books do not exist to be filler novels but to show improvement and development. Continue reading
